Ah, GNS3 on the best distro.

Get sunrise Overlay.
Following instructions have been shamelessly copied from
http://overlays.gentoo.org/proj/sunrise

To ensure your layman is compiled with suberversion support.

Code:
echo "app-portage/layman subversion" >> /etc/portage/package.use

Now install/reinstall
Code:
emerge layman

After Installation, let get sunrise setup:
Code:
layman -f -a sunrise

Lets ensure, that our system knows about it.
Code:
echo "source /var/lib/layman/make.conf" >> /etc/make.conf

And now:
Code:
emerge gns3

Note: In my case, my default python was set to 2.6, and I had problems.
so I switched to python 2.7 and everything worked fine for me.

Code:
karan ~ # eselect python list
Available Python interpreters:
  [1]   python2.6 *
  [2]   python2.7
  [3]   python3.1
  [4]   python3.2

to switch to python 2.7

do
Code:
karan ~ # eselect python set 2

Now check again:

Code:
karan ~ # eselect python list
Available Python interpreters:
  [1]   python2.6
  [2]   python2.7 *
  [3]   python3.1
  [4]   python3.2
karan ~ #

now install gns3 again.

Code:
emerge gns3

Everything should work now.
