Hello guys, I have this topology and at the moment i am trying to configure my Router so I can talk to the internet. In this topology, I want to use my physical router, which is 192.168.1.1 to be my last resort for the routing. Can I do that? I want to be able to ping http://www.google.com.. Well, at first I want to be able to ping to its IP address, once that successful, I will at the DNS server to ping with the name. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Could you make a diagram of how your GNS3 network ties into your physical network?

That's basically it, the tie point is between the cloud and my physical network. I use my wireless card to config my cloud, also use it to surf the internet. I am able to ping my PC to the router or any station on that topology.

Can you ping from your PC to the virtual router? Obviously the virtual router needs to be on the same subnet as the physical computer and router.

So if your network is like this:

Internet(google dns) 8.8.8.8---Linksys WAN 64.22.22.22---Linksys LAN/WLAN 192.168.1.1---PC 192.168.1.100---GNS3 Router 192.168.1.2

I would ping everything starting with my PC and work my way to the left. What your doing sounds right, If it doesn't work I'm not sure what to do without more information.

You will need to either configure the router 192.168.1.1 with a route to 192.168.2.0, OR configure NAT on R2. Since your router is called CCNA - I suspect you should be looking at learning how to do NAT anyway.

Your NAT config should be something like (careful - I may have added a couple of deliberate errors to keep you on your toes)

conf t
access-list 1 permit any
ip nat source inside list 1 interface f0/0 overload

int f0/0
ip nat outside
int f0/1
ip nat inside

As for DNS - just set your DNS on your QEMU host to 8.8.8.8

If that's the case, then mine would go something like this . Internet google 8.8.8.8---Linksys WAN 24.206.xx.xx --- Linksys WLAN 192.168.1.1 --- PC 192.168.1.2 ---GNS3 Router 192.168.1.10

routing example
• Consider a packet to be sent from a class C host 202.54.1.18 to class B host 144.16.116.25
• Host 202.54.1.18 consults its routing table and sends the packet to the appropriate router
• This router will have its own set of routing entries, from where it might send it somehow to the router for class B network 144.16.0.0
• This class B network router has an internal routing table entry for the router of the "class C" 144.16.116.0 network, to which it sends
• The packet finally reaches the destination over a broadcast medium
