Hi,

I set up CCIE R&S Lab. My lab consist of one HP Server with Windows Server 2003 and GNS3 installed on wich I'm running 10 Cisco 3725 RTR-s (R1-R6, BB1-BB3 and FRSW).

Physical part of lab consists of 4x Cisco 3560-24PS switches.

My problem is trunk between Cisco 3560 and RTR's interface on GNS3. Everything works fine when is configured access port on switch, but when switch port is configured as dot1q trunk and on a router I have dot1q subinterface there is no connectivity.

I suspect that problem is somewhere in netwok cards (1x 4-port Intel 8255x and 4x 2-port HP NC7170), but thesee cards are from Cisco PIX525 (Intel) and from servers (HP) and they can do trunking.

Can anybody help me?

I solved the problem!!! :-)

Everything depends on NIC chipset and driver, but generally, this kind of problem you should be able to solve with simple registry manipulation.

More about this problem and solution:

http://wiki.wireshark.org/CaptureSetup/VLAN

http://www.intel.com/support/network/sb/CS-005897.htm

Yes, I know that this is Wireshark support, but problem is the same; NIC strripes out dot1q tag and your trunk can't work (for same reason you can't see dot1q tags in wireshark).

If you have Intel based NIC follow second link, if you have Broadcom based NIC follow first link.

If you have problem, write it down here and I will try to help you.
