Hey guys.. I am having a bit of a problem trying to load any of the console programs. Whenever I right click and select "console", The console window opens up, but then it appears to get locked up. I have uninstalled and reinstalled, followed Jeremy's Cioara's video step by step and still had problems. Is there something I am missing? Do I need to install additional files? Install an older version of GNS3?

I am running Windows 7 Home Premium with Service Pack 1 and I am using an Acer Aspire 7741.

When you say 'locked-up', do you mean the console pops up for a short time then disappears? If so then you may have to change the port number of the console. You can do so by right-clicking on the router, then 'Change console port' to something in the 3000s range.

The console window stays open, but when I hit enter nothing happens.

I'm also having this problem and I'm not sure exactly what's causing it. After reading the Documentation page, at first I thought it might have been some kind of issue with uncompressing the 2600 series IOS image I have; initially GNS3 uncompressed it for me, with no issues (except for the console window not responding). However, when I tried to have GNS3 uncompress it again after getting rid of the .image file, it now errors out on me every time.

I then used 7-Zip to uncompress the image, but despite that the console window still won't respond once I start the router up and open it.

I'm running Win7 Ultimate (64-bit), with SP1. I can also provide hardware specs later if needed (my PC's homebuilt).

You can try this --

Right click on your GNS3 icon on your desktop.
Click on properties.
Under 'Compatibility' tab click the box that says something like - 'Run this program in compatibility mode for'
Use the drop down box to select 'Windows Vista - SP2'.
Hit apply and then try to open up the console on the router -- hopefully it will work then - let me know.
