Hello,

I've connected PIX to a switch port and a host to the same switch via VMnet4 NIO. I couldn't connect PIX to the host directly because PIX doesn't support the host's NIO, so i used ethernet switch for this reason. After configuring the IP addresses and masks, however, i can't ping the host from PIX and vice versa. I changed the security level of PIX's interface that is connected to the switch to 100 and I allowed icmp to any interface but still no luck. The show arp doesn't show the MAC of the host in the first place, so it's a layer 2 issue. I doubt the ethernet switch but there is nothing to configure in the switch more than assigning ports to a VLAN. The host is a VMware Windows 2008 sever standard guest. I configured VMnet4 in both the guest and GNS3. This is a KG1 topology and i am out of solutions.

Please help.
