 Post subject: Poor Mans Loopback Cable

Instead of of creating a Microsoft or other internal loopback connection. I decided to make a loopback cable. Its very simple to do and all you need is one end of a cat 5 cable with a RJ45 attached. Perform the loopback connection by twisting or soldering pin 1 to 3 and 2 to 6. Tape it up and plug it in. In GNS3 use Host and config it to us the LAN connection. connect it to the router or switch port using the GNS3 connection tool. You can either us a static IP or configure your router for DHCP. This works great and enables you to use the Cisco CNA software and also easily use the ASDM software. Attached is a picture of what the device looks like. The cost is about 25 cents to make or free if you have an old patch panel cable handy
