 Post subject: IS GNS3 compatible for window 7 x32 ( i3 + 4 gb ram )

hiiii frnds ,

plz help me as my gns3( version 0.8.3.1 ) heats up my laptop ( i3 + 4gb ram ) . is gns3 is not compatible for window 7 x32.
plz suggest me what should i do .

Yes, GNS3 is compatible with your setup. Have you set an IDLE PC value for your IOS image(s)? If not, dynamips will use 100% of your CPU.

I recommend reading the online documentaion: http://www.gns3.net/documentation

hiiii jason ,


thnks 4 reply , upto 5 routers it works fine bt after tht fan speed increases too much and heat exhaust. idle value is also set .

In my experience, "5" routers is not enough to heavily impact a PC when running GNS3. You may want to try other IDLE PC values to dial down your CPU usage (some values work better then others). You should also check your dynamips settings to ensure that ghost IOS and sparse memory support are enabled.

Barring that, you can try using some other router type that has fewer memory requirements, like a c1700 series IOS for example.
