Can you confirm that the image you're using supports the WIC you're trying to use?

C3600 routers don't have WICS!! Please check this page to see what is supported => http://www.gns3.net/hardware-emulated/

I thought the 3600 series do support WICs? The limitation can be, though, on the IOS image itself!

Hi Khaled,

I think you are right. When I said WICS are not supported, I meant by the emulator, not the real hardware.

Thanks for pointing that out ;)

I'm trying to go through the CBT nuggets CCNP routing video for GNS3 setup, but I'm getting hitting snags at every angle. Cioara demonstrates using a 2600, which I can't for the life of me get to work. I kept getting the;
DynamipsError: 209-unable to start VM instance...

When I do get it to run, I can't console into it. I have 2 different c2600 IOSs, same with both. A coworker told me that he could never get the 2600 to work. So I tried the c3600, and loaded a 3640 IOS. I was finally able to get this router running, and the Idle PC happy so that I was using a minimal amount of my CPUs processor. But the 3600s don't have WIC slots (in this emulator anyway).

I'm worried to get the full affect of this CBT nugget video library, I should be able to configure both serial and fastEth interfaces.

As to the "...209..." error, I tried this recommendation from another post;

"You can try to reset your settings in Preferences -> General -> Configuration File box and then Clear
button"

but this seemed to have no effect.

Hi,

What is your 2600 IOS image?

Also, can you test the image directly using Dynamips (the IOS emulator)?

Start cmd.exe and do the following:

Code:
C:\>cd "Program Files"

C:\Program Files>cd GNS3

C:\Program Files\GNS3>dynamips.exe -P 2600 the_path_to_your_IOS_image
