Hello, i'm running OSX Mountain Lion and have installed GNS3 version 0.8.3.1. I have a VM running on VMware Fusion that I would like to connect to my GNS3 topology. When I set up the Cloud in GNS3 to use nio_gen_eth:vmnet1 and attempt to connect to a router, I get the error message "206-unable to create generic ethernet NIO". I am running GNS3 as root...

ps -jef | grep dynamips
root 62321 62313 62312 0 1 ?+ s002 0:00.00 (dynamips-0.2.8- 0 0 10:15AM ttys002

ps -jef | grep GNS3
root 62313 62312 62312 0 1 ?+ s002 0:00.00 (GNS3) 0 0 10:14AM ttys002

This works fine if I use en0 with the Cloud, but I would like to connect the GNS3 topology to separate Fusion host-only networks. Is this possible?

Thanks,
Matt

Have you tried to bridge between VMware and gns3 in Mountain Lion using the tap interface?

sudo ifconfig bridge0 create
sudo ifconfig bridge0 up addm tap0 addm en0

You could also route through the tap interface depending on your topology.
