I'm looking for details on how to install, make, download, a version of Qemu which will work on Ubuntu/Mint which is 64-bit. I've spent probably every last minute of my spare time over the last week, building VM after VM trying to get this to work.

I'm trying to get a 64-bit Linux operating system running which I can run multiple ASA images. I've done it under WinXP 32-bit but finding it chews too much memory, plus I'm having issue with it double entering, which is causing issues trying to get upload ADSM.

Any help would be very much appreciated.

The pre-compiled Linux version (http://www.gns3.net/qemu) should work, but may require additional dependencies for Mint. I've tested the 32-bit version on Mint and it works fine, but I have not tested the 64-bit version.

Best of luck,
Jason

I've successfully built 1.5.1 under Slackware 13.37 and Centos 6.4 although both of these are i386. It should build as long as you have the depencencies installed (libs, headers). What errors are you seeing?

It should just be a case of:
tar jxvf qemu-1.5.1.tar.bz2
cd qemu-1.5.1
./configure ------- (you may want to change you install directory and build options here)
make.

I plan to do a X86_64 install of Fedora 18 over the next few days. I'll try again with 1.5.1 and see how far I get.

I did have 1.2.1 running happily 64-bit on OSX 10.6.8 and that ran two ASA 8.4.2's. Unfortunately on OSX there is nothing to tame the 100% CPU like CPUlimit or BES.

HTH,
Nick.

Hi nickbeee, are you able to share your CentOS 6.4, GNS3 0.8.4 installation instructions? Prefably with qemu and 64-bit?

I prefer the CentOS operating system over Ubuntu.

I've been trying for weeks to get clouds working so my GNS3 ASA can work with virtual DMZ and outside websites. It worked in the past but now can't communicate with even the local PC.

Any help would be appreciated. I want to get some study done to pass some exams.

I haven't tried a 64-bit build yet (side-tracked onto compiling a win32 build). I do have 1.6.0 built on centos 6.4 i686. Just download the sources then run ./configure and make as suggested above. If you get any errors due to failed dependencies post back and I'll try and point you towards the rpm's to yum install.
