There's a real problem if dynamips can't open port 7200 - not sure if that is the error dynagen is objecting to or not.

You say are trying to run the topology directly with dynagen - if yo have not quit GNS3 already, then I would expect the error you see.

I'm not quite sure where this is leading. We started trying to solve a "can't open the console" and have now migrated to"can't open topology with dynagen".

I know it is a simple topology, but post it anyway. I'll have a crack at loading it (probably with a different version of IOS - I have c3640-ik9o3s-mz.124-25a) on using GNS3 0.73 on Windows, Linux and OSX and see what I come up with.

Hi Folks,

I hope following suggestion will resolve this problem:

Start GNS3 then go to Edit>Preference.Then click on General and check the terminal path.

Locate your putty path into your computer and replace with the path(eg C:\Users\abc\Desktop\putty.exe -telnet %h %p)

I have run into the same problem few times. GNS starts, all routers are green but no console to any of the routers.

I do two things:

- clear my working directory
-try with one or two routers first with a different extracted IOS. Sometimes certain IOS give you a headache with GNS, you gotta try some different IOS.

I just had a problem with a 3725 IOS that I work with complicated topologies and worked fine so far. I tried to build a very simple topology just to practice on something with the same IOS and I couldn't get a console to any of the routers, I rebooted my PC couple of time etc but nothing worked. Then I changed to another IOS that I used to use and then boom, worked.

It seems to be a bug or something somewhere in dynamips, you are gonna get it as long as you try another IOS. In my case IOS that didn't work on a very simple set-up works fine on a complicated topology. No explanation for that, some glitch in dynamips, who knows.
