It is officially announced

Version 5.0

Cisco ISR 2900 Series routers running IOS version 15.3T Universal Software release
Catalyst 3560X Series switches running IOS version 15.0SE Universal (IP Services) Software release

This is not fully accurate, this is for those who want to prepare the CCIE using hardware based labs. They also state that you may use any hardware supporting IOS 15.

The most important is that you won't need hardware anymore, the CCIE v5 is going fully virtual using IOU! They were already testing candidates for the CCIE v4 troubleshooting section using IOU... Now I wonder if the exam cost will stay the same? Probably...

Correct, i forget to mention it. The cost is 1500$ i don't know if it has changed, i hope not.

Actually the cost should go down in my opinion. $1500 is way too expensive for a test, especially now that it's gonna be 100% virtual. I paid $8000 for my CCIE in the end! (4 exams + travel expenses, not counting all the training and 5 switches...) and have not had the luxury of a company paying for me :(
