Hi, all!
I'm trying to build a VERY basic configuration - not trying to route to the internet or physical hosts, or anything, just want to work within GNS3 - but traffic won't move anywhere.
So here's my setup:
- GNS3 0.8.6
- Basic Windows load running on VMWare Workstation 9 (I've tried both Win 7x64 SP1, and WinXP x32 SP3)
- No antivirus, firewall turned off
- Network adapter running as Host Only (because of previous statement)
- Cisco 3725 image (c3725-js-mz.122-11.YT2, if it matters)

I have been through the "Getting Started" guide three times; GNS3 works EXACTLY as expected except for the very last thing - I can't ping anything. Topology is very simple; pictures are in the attached file. Here's the catch: When I run a packet capture between the two, and then ping one router from the other; I get this (screenshot in attachment):
The pinging router transmits an ARP broadcast, and the receiving router responds, but the pinging router ignores it.

Only configuration in the routers is IP address and No Shut. (See attachment).
Any insight would be appreciated....

Hi,

R1 is your windows and R2 the 3725?
Is that the full capture or do you applied any filters?

The interesting thing is, that R2 does an ARP request and R1 send an ARP reply. But there are no ICMP echo request in the capture.

- please show the "sh int fa0/1" output from R2
- can R2 ping the local interface (ping 192.168.100.6)
- issue "debug ip icmp" then ping -- any output? (you can stop the debugging by "undebug all")

Regards,
Thomas
