hello,

i have 2 hosts connect to 1 switch(ethernet switch) and the switch is connect to a router(model(3640)).

i know how to set the ip address for the router and for the hosts as i can see in this video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D3IJ39Glexc).

but the problem is that i have a switch in the middle.

when i set my ethernet interface 0/0 ip address i am setting the switch ip address,

ethernet interface 0/0= router and switch

but now how do i access the switch configuration in order to set the ip address for the interface that is connecting the switch and the host??

when i double click on the switch i dont have any console

can someone help with this??

i have uploaded an image of the topology

thanks in advance

Hello,

please give us some more information about your topology, f.e. ip adresses and netmask of the host, router etc.
So it's like a guessing game.

However, you need (and it must also work) a console on your switch.

Regards,
Thomas

forget that topology, a simple one as they are the same.

1 host(windows xp virtual box) connected to 1 switch connected to 1 router

router ip 192.168.1.1, dhcp server 192.168.1.0/24, dns server 192.168.1.1 everything ok

when i connect to windows xp and i try to repair the connection in order to receive the ip address from the dhcp server it just dont repair, it get stuck
even if i give a manually ip to the windows xp virtual vox, for example 192.168.1.5 i cannot ping the router.

i have seen some videos and they dont use switch console, only router console nothing more

thanks advance
