nirav,

about the hostid question that i had, i found out what was going on.

when the network settings of vm iou is on "host-only adapter and virtual-box host-only ethernet adapter", that's when it is getting the hostid of 00000000. when i switched the network settings of the vm iou to "bridged adapter and microsoft loopback adapter", that's when it is getting the other hostid.

but when the vm iou is in "host-only adapter and virtual-box host-only ethernet adapter" network settings, it could not get an ip address.

thanks

Hi,

That's really weird issue, Try to use it on VMware

Hi Nirav,

I am using VMware as well, and I have the same issue. I am able to generate a new license key now by following GoogleStar instruction. Thanks everyone from helping.

What password are you using to login to the GNS3 linux VM to generate license files? I used both gns3 for root and gns3 users but still not be able to login.

Thanks!

Hi Manju,

Yeah there is a step by step procedure to generate a key
1.First of all you must have a VM with linux ( I used Web IOU )
2.Change hostname and hostid of that VM to your hostname and hostid of GNS3 VM.
3.Once its done use CiscoIOUKeygen.py which I have uploaded in one of the posts.
4.Execute the file.

There you go.! You have your License.

As long as hostname and hostid of the VM is same i.e hostname- gns3-iouvm
hostid- 00000000. License will remain same. Have fun .!

Regards,
Nirav Dave.

1) Wait. What? Not Oracle VM Virtualbox?
2) Regarding "hostname" and "hostid"
--> a) What is my hostname?
--> b) What is hostid of GNS3 VM? (gns3-iouvm?)
3. Use CiscoIOUKeygen.py where and how?
4. Execute what file?

Hi, sorry but I need an IOU Licence.

As far as I understand I have to create a txt file named iourc and inside:

[license]
gns3-iouvm = xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx;

gns3-iouvm is the VM name and xxxxxxxx is what you call host-id?

There is where I need this licence key.

Thanks.
