I am using the Alpha 5 version and I receive the error listed in the subject when I load a .net file using the "open project" option. This .net was provided by CBTNuggets but they are clueless about help for it. Not sure if I am doing something incorrectly or not.

I expect the .net file you have from CBTNuggets is in the old dynagen format. GNS3 v1 uses a completely new file format based on JSON

So you would have need to manually recreate the topology for use with the new GNS3.

Yep, realized what was wrong when it loaded correctly in the production version of GNS3. Thanks for the replay.

I hope a tool will be provided to perform an automatic conversion between old and new format when necessary.
Otherwise GNS3 v1 adoption will most certainly be hindered.

It is in the pipeline... being written currently by myself.

It will be a standalone tool to convert the old .net topologies to the new JSON format. I hope to make a release of this soon-ish, though I do expect there to be a lot of bugs and missing items!

Keep yours on the forum... I shall make a post when I'm ready to release it

Thanks, but if you release the news on a new thread in GNS3 forum, how can we be notified?

How about also announcing it in this thread: https://learningnetwork.cisco.com/message/420181#420181Thus all people studying for CCNP on CLN will automatically be notified.
