Hi guys,

I submitted this as a request when you guys first started the Alpha build, not sure if it made it anywhere though,

Could you look at active link lights, similar to packet tracer?

something like;

UP/UP = GREEN

UP/DOWN = FLASHING AMBER

DOWN/DOWN = RED

ADMIN DOWN = FLASHING RED

Much more helpful than all green if the router is turned on and layer 1 connectivity is present, I think anyway

What do you guys think?

Cheers for all the great work thus far!

I personally am enjoying the alpha/beta journey

Hi,

I would like to have active link lights too but this isn't that simple. The problem is that GNS3 would have to get the necessary info from IOS or other network operating systems in a programmatic way, for instance we could use SNMP but then all the systems would have to support it and have it correctly configured. It would be much easier if there was a standard API ;)

What we could potentially do however is have the link lights blinking when there is traffic transiting thru the interfaces.

IMHO, that alone would be cool too. Perhaps use orange/amber when there's traffic, while still keeping green/red for active/inactive, as currently?
