Hello
I'm trying to install new gns3 alpha5 on ubuntu 14.04

I am following the steps described in the blog post at this link :
http://castroaa.blogspot.fr/2014/04/gns ... tu_21.html

[of course I downloaded alpha5 instead of alpha2 in mentionned in the blog post]

and when arrived at step 7 :

7.Download and install the following:

apt-get install lib32z1 lib32ncurses5 lib32bz2-1.0
apt-get install libssl1.0.0:i386
apt-get install libtinfo5:i386
ln -s /lib/i386-linux-gnu/libcrypto.so.1.0.0 /usr/lib/libcrypto.so.4

I have the following message (sorry this is in French) :

[email protected]:~# apt-get install libssl1.0.0:i386
Lecture des listes de paquets... Fait
Construction de l'arbre des dépendances
Lecture des informations d'état... Fait
E: Impossible de trouver le paquet libssl1.0.0
E: Impossible de trouver de paquet correspondant à l'expression rationnelle « libssl1.0.0 »
[email protected]:~# apt-get install libtinfo5:i386
Lecture des listes de paquets... Fait
Construction de l'arbre des dépendances
Lecture des informations d'état... Fait
E: Impossible de trouver le paquet libtinfo5
[email protected]:~#

in other words in english :

impossible to find the package libssl1.0.0
impossible to find the package libtinfo5

what should I do to move forward ?

(sorry this is my first install of new GNS3 and my questions may be very simple)

I think this is related to the fact I'm running ubuntu 14.04 from a bootable USB drive for portability of my tests and that it seems the version I use has a more restricted sources.list file in the /etc/apt folder

could people that still manage to get those files reply by giving the content of their sources.list file so that I can update mine ?

Dependances necessaires pour IOU:

Code:
dpkg --add-architecture i386
apt-get update
apt-get install  libc6:i386 libstdc++6:i386
apt-get install libssl1.0.0:i386

ln -s /lib/i386-linux-gnu/libcrypto.so.1.0.0 /lib/i386-linux-gnu/libcrypto.so.4

Bonne journee.

Merci beaucoup ça marche effectivement je peux lancer new gns3 !

Vive le Quebec...Libre... ;-)

I switch in english so that other people can follow

Just having been following the installation guide at the url :
http://castroaa.blogspot.fr/2014/04/gns ... tu_21.html

and after having replaced the following lines in step 7. :

Code:
apt-get install libssl1.0.0:i386
apt-get install libtinfo5:i386
ln -s /lib/i386-linux-gnu/libcrypto.so.1.0.0 /usr/lib/libcrypto.so.4

by yours, that is (after replacing the sources.list that you supplied above with ca replaced cautiously by fr) :

Code:
dpkg --add-architecture i386
apt-get update
apt-get install  libc6:i386 libstdc++6:i386
apt-get install libssl1.0.0:i386

ln -s /lib/i386-linux-gnu/libcrypto.so.1.0.0 /lib/i386-linux-gnu/libcrypto.so.4

question 1 : does it means IOU can be used or there is something else to do ?

question 2 (more an humble request) :
is there any tutorial for using new gns3 ?
do you think it would be possible to list some tutotrials in a stick post under "New GNS3" part of this forum ?

I have seen that tutorials could be found at :
http://www.gns3.net/video-tutorials/

but it seems that none of them are for the new GNS3, am I wrong ?

May be just a sticky post named "tutorials" in New GNS3 of this forum would incite people to leave links towards their own tutorials you do not need to do them all busy as you are developping New GNS3.

May be only some structuring tutorials like the one I humbly suggest just below would be a good idea though, no ?

question 3 I think one light tutorial (like text in numbered steps) to use GNS3 1.0.n, like one for using IOU with this long awaited switching new feature would be cool no ?

question 4 I've just seen that you work hard and that alpha 6 is already avalable when alpha 5 has just a week may be, congratulations but how can we upgrade from alpha5 to alpha 6 ?

best regards keep up the good work !

There is something else to do: create an iourc file with the IOU license number inside. You should have everything you need in this post => topic8994.html

Well, not too many tutorials now and most of them should be on this forum.

Correct, this is because the new GNS3 is still in alpha stage and not publicly released yet.

That's a good idea :) We will probably do this.

I do agree but we are simply so busy developping...

Well to upgrade, simply download the release archives from github:

https://github.com/GNS3/gns3-gui/archiv ... alpha6.zip
https://github.com/GNS3/gns3-server/arc ... alpha6.zip

Then install both of them using the following command for each:

Code:
sudo python3 setup.py install

Cheers,

Bonjour, Hello

in fact I had to start a new job and I could not upgrade to alpha 6 and I did not add yet IOU

Now that I saw that GNS 1.0 has just been out, what is the way forward from my alpha 5 without IOU to get GNS1.0 with IOU ?

may be there is already a tutorial somewhere ?
