installed gns3 no problem, go through the dynamips test just fine, however when i try to load ios images the idle pc calculation always fails, and routers are not opening and things are very buggy, i've watched setup videos, followed instructions on the website, even downloaded an older version(0.8.6). I was reading this is the best simulator, and i'm trying to get away from the limits of packet tracer but i can't get this thing to run properly...

Also tried on my two computers, my lenovo laptop and my custom built desktop, both windows 7, i can post system stats if necessary. any help would be appreciated

Are you absolutely sure you're trying to run SUPPORTED IOS images?
Please note, that GNS3 CAN NOT emulate switches - just some routers can be emulated...

Hi Ant,

Did you allocate the correct amount of memory to your router before the idle PC calculation?
ie, for a 3725 router, you should allocate 256 MB memory. Not more, not less or the idle PC calculation might fail.
