The routers R3 & R8 have the same serial number, is there a way to change this ?

i think as the serial number is from the manufacture the only way to do is to ask the manufacture or send these routers back to them ,the manufacturer and modify these serial numbers for you because i have never see manufacturer who can allow you to change their devices specification and i believe serial of most devices on newer routers such as the Cisco 2800 Series and 3800 Series, the serial number on the outside of the router, the processor ID, and the hardware chassis serial number are all are the same and thanks

Thanks for the reply, but I'm sure you read the message and understand that these are NOT real sheet metal routers, but emulated .........

I'm pretty sure this is normal - I have no idea how the serial number is generated in the source code (but you could look on github if you wanted to https://github.com/GNS3/dynamips

Is there a problem being caused by the duplicate serial numbers?

BTW - most of the activity has moved to the new GNS3 forum at gns3.com

You may get a better response if you ask the question there.
