Running Ubuntu Server 9.10, with the latest release of GNS3.
Running GNS3 as sudo, because some of my routers connect to external switches.
I've noticed that ever since I started running GNS3 as sudo (ever since I'm connecting to external devices), GNS just hangs whenever I try to stop some of the routers.
I have to force quit the application and restart my server if I want to use GNS3 again (a bit annoying).

Any help would be much appreciated.

Cheers.

I don't know why GNS3 hangs but why do you need restart sever?
If Dynamips is still running after you exit GNS3 you can kill it:

[[email protected] ~]$ ps aux | grep dynamips
root 3949 2.0 0.1 181376 3852 ? Sl 13:06 0:00 /usr/bin/dynamips -H 7200
root 3964 46.0 17.8 700580 365476 ? Sl 13:06 0:19 /usr/bin/dynamips -H 7201
brezular 3988 0.0 0.0 4188 708 pts/3 S+ 13:07 0:00 grep dynamips

[[email protected] ~]$ sudo kill 3949
[sudo] password for brezular:

[[email protected] ~]$ps -aux | grep dynamips
root [/b]3964 39.0 17.8 700580 365476 ? Sl 13:06 0:25 /usr/bin/dynamips -H 7201
[[email protected] ~]$sudo kill 3964
[[email protected] ~]$
[[email protected] ~]$ ps aux | grep dynamips
brezular 3995 0.0 0.0 4188 708 pts/3 S+ 13:07 0:00 grep dynamips
[[email protected] ~]$

Good point.
I actually don't know if all processes are killed when I quit GNS3.
I'll have a look tonight.
I restart the server, because after force-quit GNS3 and restart it, I'm unable to open any projects.

However, it doesn't solve the issue that GNS3 gets stuck, when stopping one or multiple routers...

I noticed tonight that GNS3 was able to stop all routers without any issues.
I've only recently connected my switches to the lab and I think the issue might be related to the switch status.
If I recall correctly, GNS3 got stuck every time I was configuring some routers (attached to the switches) and the switches were actually powered off.
Tonight I had all equipment up and running and, like mentioned above, GNS3 was able to stop all routers without issues.

I'll post another reply if I still have issues.
If not, consider the case resolved.
