I just updated my Windows 8 GUI to the v1 Beta 2 and then followed the instructions on this page (topic11124.html) to update my server version in virtual box. The server version now seems to be v1.0beta3.dev1 so now I have a version mis-match. I can't find anything but beta 2 for the client though. Anyone know what's going on ?

Tricia.

Life in the beta-testing world is a little tricky. And it requires/forces you to learn a reasonable amount of Linux (or linux like stuff on Windows I guess).

There are nearly always two versions of a beta program. One that is for general-consumption testing (currently beta2) that is downloaded from https://github.com/GNS3/gns3-gui/releases

The other version is the development version - almost guaranteed to have new bugs just last night just so you can find them. This is the BLEEDING EDGE version, and has to be compiled to run. It is best downloaded via git (using commands like git clone or git pull)- but doesn't have to be.

Also, I'd recommend that if your main platform is Windows, then stick with a stable version of GNS3 on your Windows platform and create a Linux virtual machine (I use Linux Mint 17) to experiment with the beta versions of GNS3. You can use my script (download from topic11650.html) and run it to install either the release version or the developer (bleeding edge) version. Every time there is a new release, or I want to check out the latest "bleeding edge" = I just run the script again. And if "bleeding edge" doesn't work, I run the script again and go back to the release version!

On the other hand, if you don't like playing the beta game, there's alway the very good and stable v0.8.7 version

[Sorry about the slow reply - started this over 24hrs ago but had other things to attend to]
