Hi,

I will soon post a script that automatically convert an ASA7 image to be used with GNS3.

Hi its no difference than using the PIX in GNS3. If you dont know how to configure a PIX or any routers in GNS3, you should read the tutorials and documentation.

Thanks for the response

I know how to configure pix in GNS3, for pix i am using PEMU, which is in built-in for GNS3, but for ASA we need to use QEMU, i read yesterday that we have something call Cisco Image Unpacker software, i tried using that but end up with nothing, i wanna know STEPS to install and configure Image Unpacker software. and what are the prerequisite for that software.

Any help will be appreciated.

Hi,

With an ASA v8 image you need Qemu. If you want to use an ASA v7 image then you can use GNS3.

To use an ASA 7 image with GNS3, you have to unpack it with Cisco image unpacker.

On Linux:

Code:
$ python unpack.py --format ASA7 asa724-k8.bin
Archive:  /tmp/asa724-k8.bin.zip
inflating: /tmp/pix
ASA7 binary image successfully unpacked in asa724-k8.bin.unpacked

On Windows:

Code:
C:\Unpack>unpack.exe --format ASA7 asa724-k8.bin
Archive:  c:/docume~1/admini~1/locals~1/temp/asa724-k8.bin.zip
inflating: c:/docume~1/admini~1/locals~1/temp/pix
ASA7 binary image successfully unpacked in asa724-k8.bin.unpacked

Then you can use asa724-k8.bin.unpacked in GNS3 as a PIX image.
