I get the above message everytime I try to open a saved project.
any ideas?

also, after building a network and importing it into a project, it often looses many of the configs.
IOSs are 12.4.xx advip for 3745 and 2691

noone else have this problem?

after reinstalling, I have a similar problem;

save project --> exit gns3 --> start gns3 --> open .net file

it loads the topology but can't start any of the routers.
If I try to manually start them via the "play" button on the top it comes up with the
209 error from my post above..

Hi

I had this problem too.

Whenever you see Error: 209 it means the path or the name of the IOS is not correct.

In my case I used special danish charaters like "æ" i the path to the IOS images - i.e "downloads\netværk\IOSimages". When i changed this path to "download\network\IOSimages" GNS worked.

So look at the path and the name on your IOS images.

/Peter

Strange happenings following this: The first attempt I make at starting the router fails with the above message. The second attempt, however, the router starts. From that point on, I can stop/start the router with a single click.

With the router started, though, if I open up a console, I get a different issue, which I'll try posting in the correct discussion, so as not to hijack this one, but, it's the old "no prompt" issue.

Link to the no prompt issue, in case others are having similar problems: http://www.gns3.net/phpBB/post3033.html

Gents,

I am on ubuntu 9.10, GNS3 0.6.1

I had a 209 error after creating a lab; then exporting it to another directory as a new lab; then adding a new router.

I noticed (after comparing this with a fresh topology as it only seemed to break after a new node was added) that the working directory was inconsistent.

So I opened up the broken lab .net file into gedit, change the this variable as follows:

workingdir = /tmp

Job done.

Must be a bug... but for what you get, you cant complain eh? :¬/

Hi,

If you will run GNS with root you will not face this problem. i.e run gns3 through command : gksudo gns3. Thats it! I was so much exhausted with this error, this solution worked perfect for me on Ubuntu 10.10 :).
Try it and share feedback!

[quote="grossmj"]Hi jeremy,

I have installed GNS3 v0.7.3 all-in-one and after installation have added the following IOS image "Cisco image unpacker 0.1 binary for Windows".

After completing the above steps, when I am trying to start the router from the router it is giving me the following error "Dynamips failed to start on the locahost. probably it has crashed. Exiting"

Can you please suggest a workaround for the same.

Neel
