Post subject: defualt route for on particular interface!
PostPosted: Mon Mar 22, 2010 11:26 pm
Hi,
During the configuration of ospf, our instructor has told us to "On Router1, configure a default route which directs traffic out loop0. This default
route will eventually be advertised throughout the entire network topology."
can we make an interface act as a default router? If so how?
Thanks

Hi,

you need to create a default route either by using a static route i.e router(config)#ip route 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 10.1.1.1 or using router(config)#default-network 10.1.1.0

Then to replicate the default network in ospf you need to add the comand "default-information originate always" into your ospf confiuration i.e:

router(config)#router ospf 1
router(config-router)#network 192.168.1.0 0.0.0.255 area 0
router(config-router)#default-information originate always
