Reproducible: Yes (create new project or open existing project, add cloud, add Generic NIO (any interface).
Adding NIO as root: Yes
Is interface active: Yes
Did it work in previous version: yes

any suggestion or is this a possible bug?

Just some more data,

Just stood up ubuntu 10.04 LTS, VMware Server 2.0.2 with GNS3 0.7.1, same issue as above running as root.

I fixed the issue in the dev version that you can download here: http://code.gns3.net/gns3-devel/archive/tip.tar.bz2
