You won't find detailed instructions for GNS3 installation on Centos/Redhat/Fedora over the net, So I decided to make one. Installing GNS3 on Centos/Redhat/Fedora can be very tedious task. But If you follow my Steps given below you can setup and run GNS3 without any difficulty. Since Qt 4.5.1 binary which is required for GNS3 is not available for these OS's, we'll have to compile it from the source.

IMP:: Installation of all this packages will take a lot of time. So do it when you are free.

OK lets roll

First we'll have to install dependencies

[user@admin ~]$ su

Password: (Type in your root password here)

[root@admin /]# yum install python python-devel xorg-x11-proto-devel libXext-devel

[root@admin /]# yum install gcc-c++

Thanks for your tutorials !

That's great when people share their experience, make tutorials and contribute to the project :) I really appreciate and I think others do as well.

Glavin

You are the man!! Your instructions are phenomenal. Not only does it work but if fixed all my issues i was having with ubuntu. I was having issues w/ host-only adapter and connecting to VirtualBox and after seeing your instructions i installed fedora 13 and followed your instructions and works flawlessly. I am thankful for your knowledge. it took a little time but well worth it.

Excellent, thanks for the great 'how-to'

The directions and details you provided were outstanding! I really appreciate you taking the time to compile this tutorial.

I am running FC13 through VMWare and everything works a treat. The only thing I had trouble with (I honestly don't have too much experience w/the Fedora dist. so I wasn't aware that 'telnet' wasn't installed by default) was gaining access to the router post installation.

Code:
There was an error creating the child process for this terminal

WIthout having telnet installed, this was the error I was receiving.

Anywho, I installed telnet and GNS3 is now fully operational! Thanks again for your time and effort!

Cheers!

Hi Glavin,

My OS is 64bit RedHat Enterprise Linux. And there is a problem when I do "Fire up GNS3". I have set the correct path for Dynamips, but when I click the "Test" button, it says "Failed to start Dynamips".
Is there some solution?

Thanks a lot.

You will need 64 bit dynamips-0.2.8-RC2-amd64.bin. Please check my post again and download that file. Also try running gns3 as root user from Terminal.

Hi Glavin,

Thanks for your reply.
The first time I use "GNS3-0.7.2-src.tar.gz" and it doesn't work. And now I use "GNS3-0.7.2-src.tar.bz2", it works successfully. It's so tricky.
