Glavin - thanks for your help in the past - hope you can help me again since you've added Ubuntu 10.10 to the title!
So I thought I'd give Ubuntu 10.10 a try, but can't get past step 1!

Any ideas why I can't install dynagen or python-qt4 on 10.10? I'm afraid I'm a bit of a Linux Luddite.

Run sudo apt-get update in Terminal. Then follow the given steps. Or you can manually download .deb file from here https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/maverick/+package/dynagen
https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/maverick/+ ... python-qt4

BTW I had to change

sudo tar -xjvf GNS3-0.7.2-src.tar.bz2 && rm GNS3-0.7.2-src.tar.bz2

to two lines with a sudo before the rm ie

sudo tar -xjvf GNS3-0.7.2-src.tar.bz2
sudo rm GNS3-0.7.2-src.tar.bz2

and after

sudo mv GNS3-0.7.2-src /opt/GNS3

I had to add a chown command
sudo chown -R <user> GNS3

before I could add images in the GNS3 directory

excellent post using 10.04 LTS and am very happy with it.

Tnx for linking that tutorial, it was spot on.

does anyone know of a distro that can operate as a Xen Dom0 that has the proper dependencies for GNS3 in its repo?

I did everything u said but after adding qemu hosts inside GNS3 0.7.3 under ubuntu 10.10 I cannot ping between the two hosts or between a host and a router,

OS Ubuntu 10.10
GNS3 0.7.3
Qemu Host Microcore Linux 3.4
Tinycore Linux 3.4

I am agree with you i have the same problem. i have Ubuntu 10.10 everything is working fine but i can't Ping the two Hosts Tiny or MicroCore even with other Router. Apply everything what i saw on the web but no success. I am not believing here the people who upload whatever Blogs, Believe me i solve my problems by myself.

One thing i forgot to mention. I download "TinyCore" ISO Image and Loaded on VMWare and its working fine and Pinging each other very well. Anyways i am doing my experiments if i got any success then i will share here. But if you did some improvement so please share here may be other can take advantage and we can save our and their time.
