So here is how to install GNS3 on Ubuntu.

Lets Begin

For Ubuntu 32-bit
1. First we will install Dynagen and Python-Qt4

sudo apt-get install dynagen python-qt4

2. Download GNS3 and extract in /opt

cd /opt
sudo wget http://space.dl.sourceforge.net/project/gns-3/GNS3/0.7.3/GNS3-0.7.3-src.tar.bz2
sudo tar -xjvf GNS3-0.7.3-src.tar.bz2 && rm GNS3-0.7.3-src.tar.bz2
sudo mv GNS3-0.7.3-src /opt/GNS3

Following the step by step instructions for 64-bit on Ubuntu 10.04, at `sudo apt-get install sip' I get file not found.

Where do I get this file from? Tried looking up on google. but just get loads of info on SIP for VoIP use, which I dont think is anything to do with this.

that was a typo , since I was also making another tutorial for centos, i messed up. You don't need sudo apt-get install sip here.

I am new to this forum and I need to know. I will like to installed the python and asap I typed this command
sudo apt-get install dynagen python-qt4
I have this feedback:
Reading dependency lists ....done
Building dependency tree .....done
Reading state information ..... done
E: Couldn't find package dynagen

Is there anything I have to add or edit in order to get this fixed. I am new to ubuntun and GNS as I only makes use of a packet tracer for my CCNA practice.
A step by step procedure will highly be appreciated as I need to get this worked and futher my practice.

Thanks a million in advance.
Grace.

Which version of ubuntu are you using?? and is it 32 bit or 64 bit ?? As far as I know dynagen is in ubuntu repository by default.
Try this before running the above command
sudo apt-cache search Dynagen
