I'm trying to figure out the same thing. I'm getting that same 206 error. I dragged in the cloud, and when I try to connect my router to the cloud I keep getting the 206. I've tried creating 'lo' and 'eth'. Not sure what else to try.

- Brand new Ubuntu 10 install in VM
- GNS3 from the Ubuntu Software Center
- Updated Mac host
- VMware Fusion

I just want to connect the router in GNS3 to the outside world, but I can't even connect the GNS3 cloud to my GNS3 router without getting the 206 error.

- One site says gns3 doesn't have enough permission, and needs to run as root.
- One comment says it's a port conflict, not permissions at all.
- Another site says that since we are in Linux we need to configure bridges if we want to bridge.

But I don't necessarily want to bridge, NAT is fine ....

I tried running GNS3 as root, but that didn't seem promising so I aborted that attempt. If that's even the problem, can't I just escalate the permission for GNS3, anyway?

Doing it in XP was a piece of cake. Ubuntu has eaten up several hours now .... hmmmmm .... arggghhh ... and it still doesn't work.

Anyone got any tips for us?

I have the same problem. With WinXP is easy but WinXP crashes very often. I prefer Ubuntu :)
Can somebody tell us, how to connect cisco router with Internet ?

I tried with root permissions. It works, but I can ping every host except the Ubuntu host. It is very strange!
