I got a Ubuntu server connected to some switches and I run GNS3 on it without any problems.

Now, I want to setup remote access to my server and actually see if I can run GNS3 on my MBP and start and stop the lab (which must be possible).

I get a 206 Unable to create UDP NIO error, when trying to start the lab.
Below is a section of my .net file:

[[Cloud SW1_03]]
x = -544.5
y = -56.0
hx = 46.0
hy = 22.0
connections = R3:f0/0:nio_gen_eth:eth2

How do I modify this to tell GNS3 on my MBP that the NIO is on the remote server?

Anyone?

I'm not quite sure exactly what you are trying to do, but I THINK to achieve what I THINK you are trying to do is to manage a remote box from your MBP (=MacBook Pro I'm guessing).

SO I think the area you should be looking at is External Hypervisors (under Edit->IOS images and hypervisors - External Hypervisors tab) and adding the IP address of your remote Ubuntu server

Check out http://www.gns3.net/phpBB/topic314.html - this might help

Thanks for your swift reply.

I already came across this post, but this isn't what I want to setup.
I don't want to RDP into my server.
I simply want to start GNS3 on my Macbook Pro (correct!), load a .net file and start the routers within this topology.
All routers will run on my server and this server has physical connections to a couple of switches.

Now, when I run the .net file on my server, I don't have any issues.
When I only start the required hypervisors on my server and I run the modified .net file on my MBP (replaced all localhost statements with the IP address of my server), it starts complaining that it cannot create the UDP NIO interfaces.

What needs to be done to create the UDP NIO interfaces on a remote machine?

seal1972 - I'd love to chase this one and see if I could set up what you are trying to do - sounds like fun. Unfortunately I'll be away on a trip for the next 7 days and won't get a chance to look at it - so I'm posting this more as an apology for starting to try & help and then bailing out!
