Not as they are, the patches have to be rewritten in a format that they might accept (following their code style rules, etc) so it can get committed upstream. Moreover, the patches may have to apply to the head of the repository only as they don't correct any bugs, if this is the case, we still need to port the patches since they don't apply on head.

More info here: http://wiki.qemu.org/Contribute/SubmitAPatch

Someone will have to ask the qemu folks on qemu-devel for more indications. If we hurry, we can make it before the v0.14-rc3 is tagged.

Hi All !

If you're following the development of GNS3, you'd be surprised to see the announcement of first Alpha version of GNS3 to support VirtualBox backend here

CALL for HELP: Please patch VirtualBox for UDP networking, so it can work seamlessy in GNS3. I don't know C++, so I can't do this job.

I replied on the VirtualBox thread you created.

There is one guy who analyzed the Qemu UDP patch, and he has some remarks:

A few thoughts from Christophe Devriese:

* this won't work with packet fragmentation. Either you have to lower the MTU on the routers
and the machines, or you have to raise the mtu on the network (of course, machine-local this
won't pose a problem, but you must remember to raise the mtu)
* if you try to run this over the internet you will run into problems, again because the MTU
issues
* packets lost in the udp tunnel are lost, lost, lost. So any packet loss on your network
will translate directly into packet loss on the VM

What can you say ?
How should it work in distributed network ?
