Hi There,

The following message was seen while configuring a loopback for 10.1.101.0 255.255.255.192(subnet id)

Bad mask /26 for address 10.1.101.0

which made unable to configure the loopback addresss.

Does any one know how to fix this?

Thanks,

Hey guy I think you are kidding.

How it will work on the loop back or any interface

your problem hosted address is 10.1.101.0 255.255.255.192

Router(config-if)#ip add 10.1.101.0 255.255.255.192
Bad mask /26 for address 10.1.101.0

you put the desired address like this
don't put the Zero in any interface
Router(config-if)#ip add 10.1.101.X 255.255.255.192
Router(config-if)#
(Note X is desired value) Example 1 or 2 any up to 255 i think you know the basics of the subnetting

Router(config-if)#ip add 10.1.101.1 255.255.255.192
Router(config-if)#

There i am putting the 1

I think this will helpful to you..

Always use the first usable address. 10.1.101.1 is the first usable address.

Loopback addresses take a whole /32 bit-string of subnetmask, meaning that it should be:
10.1.101.1 255.255.255.255,try this comrade.
If you have any clues how to install gns3 on windows XP platform, please, give me the steps from scratch to detail.Am still a new entrant in the gns3 world.
Thanx,
Kind regards.

Of course you'll get this error because 10.1.101.0/26 is net address for this subnet, valid host address are from 10.1.101.1 to 10.1.101.62
