Hi,
Qemu device stucks on "Booting from Hard disk" each time Qemu guest is started. Tested with Olive and Microcore Linux, GNS3 0.8.2-Beta, Fedora 15.
If I start qemuwrapper from CLI it works.

Anyone else does have the same problem? I can provide additional information if it is needed.

Thanks.

1. Did it work with GNS3 0.7.4 ? (with this OS and this version of Qemu)
2. Which Qemu version ?

I'm testing GNS3 0.7.4 now and it seems to be working.

2. Which Qemu version ?

patched 0.14.1 available on GNS3 forum.

I'm going to download 0.8.2 again and test it with an empty configuration file.

Update

Nope. For me, GNS3 0.8.2 is working with Qemu 0.14.1 only if qemuwrapper is started from CLI. Tested with the the command below.

/usr/bin/python /home/brezular/Download/GNS3-files/GNS3/Devel/GNS3-0.8.2-BETA-src/qemuwrapper/qemuwrapper.py --listen 127.0.0.1 --port 10525 --no-path-check

GNS3 0.7.4 is working with Qemu 0.14.1 regardless of whether qemuwrapper is started from CLI or GNS3.

Could be someone be so kind and make a quick test of Qemu with GNS3 0.8.2?
Thanks.

I tested on Ubuntu 11.10 with qemu 1.0. I had no issue both from GNS3 and with qemuwrapper is started from CLI.

Would make me think this is a Qemu issue, or maybe a parameter that qemuwrapper gives to Qemu.

I could reproduce last week and now after reinstalling cleanly everything, I can't reproduce and investigate the problem.

Be sure to use the latest GNS3 head: http://code.gns3.net/gns3-devel/archive/tip.tar.bz2
And the latest Qemu head: http://git.qemu.org/?p=qemu.git;a=snaps ... EAD;sf=tgz

Qemu patch: download/file.php?id=859

A fast way to solve the problem if you're up to date and still experiencing this bug: update to a working revision and try to identify the commit who introduced the bug: hg update -r XXX && sudo python setup.py install.
For a fast answer, don't hesitate to PM me. I'd be glad to help.

@Jeremy: qemu-patches is not accessible anymore, but it's ok, I'll send you the last version of the patches and we can't publish them. IIRC I fixed something in the old patch after I published it on the forum. I should have made this post before the migration.

Hi Benjamin,

This is what I'd done:
1. tried GNS3 version you suggested and let my Qemu untouched - nothing had changed, a problem persisted.
2. tried to patch Qemu version you suggested and had a problem with applying following patches.

[[email protected] qemu-HEAD-8c4ec5c]$ patch -p1 -i ./qemu-0.14.1_net_c.patch
patching file net.c
Hunk #1 succeeded at 30 with fuzz 1.
Hunk #2 FAILED at 1088.
1 out of 2 hunks FAILED -- saving rejects to file net.c.rej

[[email protected] qemu-HEAD-8c4ec5c]$ patch -p1 -i ./qemu-0.14.1_net_h.patch
patching file net.h
Hunk #1 FAILED at 35.
1 out of 1 hunk FAILED -- saving rejects to file net.h.rej

Hi,

Can you test with last BETA2? Please delete setting file before (~/.gns3/gns3.ini).

Thanks,
