Unfortunately, vboxwrapper.exe (compiled version) will only work with either 4.1.x or 4.2.x, not both. Currently shipped version is for 4.2.x. and the python version of vboxwrapper (used on Linux) doesn't have this issue.

So, what I recommend you is to download one of the GNS3 0.8.3 standalone archive, extract it, take vboxwrapper.exe to replace the one in your GNS3 installation directory.

Very strange problem, I got work new 3.1 release on one PC (new vbox 22 and new 3.1 gns) but dont wonnt at all on mint installed win 7 64bit machine, vbox wrapper...:(. Old gns 3.8 and old vbox .18 works on this new installed pc like charm...

Jeremy NO problems anymore...
I installed Vbox 2.4.2 new vbox and your new 8.3.1 work like charm

Hi,

Apparently, you have to change the compatibility to Window 7 in the properties icon, then it should install properly. e.g. http://microsoftarena.net/winpcap-on-windows-8-how-to/

Hi Jeremy,
Just tested GNS 0.3.8.1 on Win 8 x64, and VirtualBox 4.2.4.
Following your notes I installed WinPcap 4_1_2 with run in compatibility mode win7.
And then start full GNS all-in-one installation unchecking winpcap box.

Works like charm !!!

Hi,

I have a bug with GNS3 0.8.3.1 (see on Live Raizo with his GNS3 or with devel version of GNS3).

On Linux, I create a projet with "Save nvrams ..." and "Save IOS ..." checked.
On the lab, I put 1 Ethernet Switch, 1 Cisco Routeur and 1 VM Linux. VM Linux has "Enable console support" and "Start in headless mode" checked. After "start all devices", I can't start console of the VM.
I have no problem if I uncheck "Save nvrams ..." when I create the project

I think that %s from "Terminal Settings for VirtualBox" is incorrect : I have "/home/user/tp/working/vbox_pipe_to_Router" instead "/tmp/vbox_pipe_to_Router"

Hi,

I think that I found another bug : I think that GNS3/dynamips doesn't free the ports correctly

On Linux, I'm creating a lab with 4 Cisco Router
I'm starting them
I'm openning the console mode
I'm stopping them
I'm saving project
I'm closing GNS3
I'm openning GNS3
I'm openning my project and I have this message : "console port 2004 is already in use"

Thanks for the report. I'll fix that for the next release.

Hi,

GNS3 denies the charactere "-" for the hostname and allows the charactere "_". But Linux/Debian does the opposite.
Could you authorise the charactere "-" for the hostname ?
