GNS3 0.8.4 RC4 is out. This release candidate is the last chance to catch some bugs and add minor improvements before the final release which is scheduled for the first week of July.

Please post your suggestions/comments and let us know if you find any issue.

Windows all-in-one -> http://sourceforge.net/projects/gns-3/f ... e/download
Source archive (Linux/Unix) -> http://sourceforge.net/projects/gns-3/f ... z/download
DMG package (Mac OS X) -> http://sourceforge.net/projects/gns-3/f ... g/download
Other archives and standalone versions -> http://sourceforge.net/projects/gns-3/f ... 0.8.4-RC4/

Here is the current change log for RC4 (only changes since RC3):

  • Use the project config directory to set VPCS working directory.
  • Use Qemu guest identifier names to set Qemu guest device hostnames.
  • Fixed bug when modifying an Ethernet switch configuration after loading a topology.
  • Fixed bug when capturing on a link connected to a Cloud.
  • Possibility to press shift to force the display of link types when adding a link with option 'always use manual mode when adding links' activated.
  • Better default directory when using file browsers (ellipse buttons in preferences).
  • Fixed bug when a device was named 'LAN'.
  • Option to activate/deactivate the inclusion of a screenshot when saving a project. The screenshot is named the same as the project file (e.g. topology.net = topology.png).
  • Possibility to open a project by opening its corresponding screenshot. [Edit by RedNectar: Not backwards compatible with previous RC releases - requires topology.png, not screenshot.png]
  • [Edit by RedNectar: New "Take a screenshot" tool on the Drawing toolbar]
  • GUI changes (tooltips & status tips).
  • Fixed a bug with projects: working directory was created even if not requested (Save nvrams option).
  • Fixed issue with IOS image path containing spaces when testing an IOS image from the IOS images and hypervisors window.
  • Added configuration extractor to the tools menu (Windows only).
  • Added a warning message when an c7200p image is added in the IOS images and hypervisors window.
  • Check for unsaved image settings in Qemu Panel.
  • VirtualBox console support improvements.
  • AW+ router support by Allied Telesis from New Zealand (educational OS to use this not yet released).
  • Included dynamips-0.2.8-RC7-community inside the all-in-one and DMG. This version fixes random crashes when the ppc32 cpu is used.

Thanks!

@Jeremy
The "Open by screenshot name" works well, but cant' we change the default file search from "*.net" to "*.net;*.png" - I'm pretty sure this will work for windows, don't know about OS X or Linux. That way users will see the screenshots listed as well as the .net files without having to change the filetype

I'll do it.

Dynamips 0.2.8 RC7 OS X

Tested a 3725 image, a 7200 image as normal user and as sudo.

On Windows 7 64 bits
First issues:

- NEW: ASA does not start at all
- OLD: If we save the current project as another one:
1) no device can really start (7200 cannot start at all - 3725 starts but nothing appears on the console). We have to exit GNS3 and launch the new project to be able to start all devices.
2) no ghost files are cleaned in the working directory of the old project after exiting GNS3.
- OLD: wireshark not closed on exit

And a request: it would be nice if we could configure the IOS image within "Node Configurator/General": useful when we have several IOS releases.

I have to add to that situation: no ghost files are cleaned in the working directory of the old project after exiting GNS3.

I don't think I have touch something related to ASA in the last version. Can you try with an external qemuwrapper and post the output?

I am gonna have a look at it.

What are the file names of these ghost files. What router platform did you use?

This is the intended behavior.

This is gonna be reorganized in a few months.

Cheers,

Wrong default qemu paths:

When the paths are corrected to use RC4 executables, ASA starts and seems to be working OK, without using RC3 qemuwrapper.

I have a feeling it does not depend on the platform ;)
