Hey there,

Thanks for your reply. The script that i am using is junos-auto-fix-checkpic.sh. It does not have v1.0 while i am running it.

By any chance can anyone confirm whether we can use Junos 12.3 with this.

@kingfann

It looks like your image is not booting at all. Can you let me know the output of these commands:

Code:
"%PROGRAMFILEs%\GNS3\qemu.exe" --version

- if it is not 0.11.0 then you may have a problem (you did use the "all-in-one" install, didn't you?)

Code:
"%PROGRAMFILEs%\GNS3\qemu.exe" -m 1G -hda olive-10.1R1.8.img

i.e. without the -serial part.

Thanks a lot Rednectar.

I am not getting any output for qemu.exe --version command

C:\Program Files\GNS3\Junos>"%PROGRAMFILEs%\GNS3\qemu.exe" --version

C:\Program Files\GNS3\Junos>

- if it is not 0.11.0 then you may have a problem (you did use the "all-in-one" install, didn't you?)??

I think you were asking about GNS3 version right. Yes, I have used "all-in-one" for GNS3 install. Do I need to downgrade Qemu to 0.11.0? not sure how to check Qemu version?

And also I have tried the command without serial and it is working. Is it okay to proceed the other instruction without serial command?

  1. Qemu version - you probably have v0.11.0 - don't know why the windows version (I tested on LInux) doesn't support the command line options described here, but you can tell the version by this method:
    1. Enter the command "%PROGRAMFILEs%\GNS3\qemu.exe"
    2. Press <ctrl>+<alt>+2
You will see the version in the qemu monitor - you can also type quit here as well
  2. Re:
    Quote:
"Is it okay to proceed the other instruction without serial command?"
    - that's what I'd try next!!

Edit: I forgot to mention that when you issue the command:
"%PROGRAMFILEs%\GNS3\qemu.exe" -m 1G -hda blahblah.img -serial telnet:0.0.0.0:3001 server
then your command prompt SHOULD appear to freeze - you then have to start your telnet session in another window to get the thing to boot. It worried me to see that in your example above, you had the command prompt of
Quote:
C:\Program Files\GNS3\Junos>
on two consecutive lines - which also makes me think that you have stored the junos image in C:\Program Files\GNS3\Junos as well - NOT a good idea to store things under C:\Program Files\ at any time in Windows (except applications). Suggest moving the image to somewhere move user-friendly, like %HOMEPATH%\Images\Junos

Thanks rednectar.

Yes, Qemu version is 0.11.0. Tried it from D drive but still getting the same error :(.

And also I have tried without serial but still could not able to telnet to 127.0.0.1 3001

Do you think whether GNS3 needs to re-installed or any other issue?

I guess you've tried a different port number than 3001?

Running out of ideas :-(

I have turned off my PC firewall and now all seems to be working fine. Thanks a lot Rednectar.

Now I logged into console but could not able to see my ip address show interface terse command nor can able to ping my own ip. Not sure whether I need to ask this question on different thread?

Probably best to ask a new question on the Cisco, Juniper and networking page

The advantage of asking a new question is that it will trigger an email to anyone who follows that page, as well as turn up in the list of active topics AND in the list of unanswered posts.

If you simply ask it on this thread, then:
  • only me and anyone else who has contributed to the thread will get an email,
  • it will NOT show in the list of unanswered posts; and
  • anyone looking at the list of active topics will not have a clue from the title of the topic what your problem is about, and since it already has a bunch of replies they are not going to look for it.

AND it is good etiquette to keep discussions to the topic that they are posted under!
