workplace:win7 sp1 64bit

i finished the default and full install of gns3 0.8.4. then i click the edit > preferences > dynamips > test settings.

it told me that dynamips 0.2.8-community sucessfully started. it is ok !

but i open the ios_images_and_hyperisors to config the ios images.

i add a ios of c2691-advsecurityk9-mz.124-11.T2.bin, then i click auto_calculation ,it tell me that

------------------------------------------------------------------------------
ios configuration

you will need dymaips version 0.2.8-rc4 and above to use this utility .
version detected :0.2.8-community.
you have to test the settings in dynamips preferences to update the detected version.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------
i think the dymaips of gns3_0.8.4 is the newest . why it tell me that? and how can i fix it ?

you will have to use Dynamips 0.2.8 RC7 (http://sourceforge.net/projects/gns-3/f ... community/) in order to use Autocalc.

Hello All,

I have installed final 0.8.4 release of GNS3 as well as installing 0.2.8-RC7. I am running this in Windows 7 Service Pack 1. Auto idle PC calculation works for c3745 and c7200 Routers but not for c3725. I receive the following error message, "Failed to find a working Idle PC value". The image I am using is this: c3725-advertisek9-mz.124-25d.image. I tried it twice and it failed both times.

Is anyone running into this same issue? Is there a fix for this available?

Looking at the sourceforge website it seems that 0.2.8-RC7-community is older than 0.2.8-community which ships in the all-in-one.
Is this a bug in GNS3? (I assume it looks for the "RC7" string which was removed when it went from release candidate to full release).

Yes, your correct. There was a problem with the code the that checked the dynamips version number. Jeremy (grossmj) has now fixed the problem and will be released in GNS3 v0.8.5 (which is due for release, just waiting on Dynamips 0.2.10)
