Hello Admin,

Sorry I am very new to this forum and GNS3.. I don't have admin rights to my laptop and I have downloaded the GNS3 v0.8.5 standalone 64-bit version, I did extract and kept it on my C drive root directory with default name.

Do I need to do any additional configuration so as to get the GNS3 working or It will only work on machine with Admin rights.

Thank you in advance.

Hi,

Open cmd.exe, go to the C:\GNS3-Standalone-64bit directory and manually start Dynamips.exe to see what is wrong.

It would seem you need to download and install WinPCAP from here: http://www.winpcap.org/install/default.htm

Feel problem here - from first post: "I don't have admin rights".

@manoj.padhy: I'm not a Windows guru (would describe myself as "advanced user"), so mi advices are:
1. It would be better to talk to someone WITH admin rights - ask that person to install "all-in-one" package on your machine
2. You could always think about installing Linux (Ubuntu shoud be reasonably simple to install and use) on separate partition and run GNS from Linux.

Hi,

Best would be the ship the wpcap.dll in the next standalone version. Otherwise this isn't true standalone.
