So, I have a Macbook Pro. I run GNS3 in root use mode, turn off my wifi and then tie the cloud to my NIC card. I then manuall assign my NIC card the IP 192.168.1.1 /24 and then I configure a 2691 router with a 192.168.1.2/24 address. As soon as I connect a cable to the NIC card on my laptop to a Cisco 3750 switchport, the router terminal session stops working. I don tnkow what the deal is but I have tried so many things from making the physcial connection to the NIC / Cloud. I have used trunks, VLAn's..all that..and its just making me go crazy. Why on earth is a router terminal session / CLI crashing and being unresponsive as soon as a physical cable is envolved?

Thanks

/w

@ExtremeWade

Mt Lion does not allow you to connect directly to NIC adapters in GNS3. Instead, you'll have to connect the Cloud node to a TunTap virtual adapter (usually NIO TAP configured with /dev/tap0). The tap driver is then bridged to your Mac's physical NIC (en0 in the example below). You'll have to recreate the bridge each time you open the project, and you can't create the bridge until a GNS3 device is linked to the Cloud. Tap drivers for OS X can be found at (http://tuntaposx.sourceforge.net/)

Of the project is cresated, open a Terminal and enter the following commands
sudo ifconfig bridge0 create
sudo ifconfig bridge0 addm en0
sudo ifconfig bridge0 addm tap0 up

Best of Luck,
-Jason
