Hello! First of all thank you very much for helping so many people! I am having an issue with the .iourc file. I have installed GNS3 1.0 on a Virtual Box VM and then loaded the VBox .ova appliance inside my Ubuntu VM. I have the IOU up and running, and have the image that I want uploaded to the device, I am just stuck at the part where GNS3 is asking me for the .iourc file. I have downloaded a copy of your text file and pointed it toward the .iourc file but I get a very strange error. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Hi..

You need to download the new "GNS3-1.0-alpha3 IOU VM" which is in download area , that will solve your problem..

I tried downloading and deploying the new .ova file and still no luck. Is there some special way I need to access the IOU device? I have the proper key created, I think, GNS3 lets me drag and drop IOU on to the topology, and even connect two IOU devices, they just won't start up. I have attached a picture showing what's going on. Does anyone have a good step-by-step guide to get IOU working on Ubuntu?

Now I've tried it on Windows with still no luck..... Man, they make this hard to use...

Here's the error message I get when dropping an IOU image in GNS3.

Quote:
GNS3 management console. Running GNS3 Early Release (ER) version 1.0-alpha3.
Copyright (c) 2006-2014 GNS3 Project.

This is a Windows path, the VM cannot access this image. IOU needs to be uploaded to the VM.

Yes, you have given windows path 'E:/GNS3/Images/i86bi_linux-ipbase-ms-12.4.bin', it does not work, in order work iou , you need to upload the L2,L3 images to the VM itself, to do that, fallow the below steps.

Step 1.Open web Browser, type http://192.168.56.101:8000/upload , it will open a page, in that you can upload cisco IOU/IOL images you want,

Step2. after uploading images the entire image path will be shown in that page (\home\gns3\Documents\GNS3\images\/i86bi_linux-ipbase-ms-12.4.bin),

Step3.copy the entire image path and give that path in the preference IOU Device area, it will work perfectly fine

Hey Guys, I just do not know the difference between the hostname and host id.. I use VMWare Workstation and I have the IOU device from GNS3 there as gns3-iouvm. so where do I go to set the host name to 0000000?

Please help me out here, I am pretty new at this IOU thing.

Much thanks.

Hi Dave,

I use Ubuntu14.4 and I have downloaded the IOU, have tried several ways to crack the license and none have been successful.
What could I do about it please?
