 Post subject: Testing a U-shaped HSRP Topology

I am working on a lab to be used for training at work. I am also blogging it and wanted to share the information with all GNS3sters.

The objective is to clarify the differences between a regular V-shaped HSRP topology (redundancy to the access layer) and a U-shaped topology, where the server/host has a reduncancy of its own and the network needs to accomodate this added element.

This first part posted goes into some theory and the basic setup required for the lab, GNS3, QEMU/Microcore, and connecting to the host computer. Subsequently, I am tackling the Cisco and Microcore configurations. Next, I run the tests "cutting" connections here and there and registering the results with Wireshark, show and debug commands.
