Hi, I'm getting this error message when trying to install the JUNOS software:

pkg_add: find_play_pen: can't find enough temporary space to extract the files, please set your PKG_TMPDIR environment variable to a location with at least 1982752500 bytes.

Can anyone help with this please?

Any suggestions on this one?

@ 256a1253

Start by showing us any lines of output you got before this. Also, some info about which versions you are using would be useful.

... well, this is the output of the pkg_add command in step 3.2. My wrong to assume this was kind of obvious. Screenshot attached.

Versions:
- Host OS: Windows 8.1 EDIT: and Ubuntu 14.04
- FreeBSD: 4.11
- Junos: 12.3R7.7

Invoking command on host:
Code:
PS C:\users\user1\GNS3\Images\Junos> & "c:\program files\GNS3\qemu.exe" -m 1G -hda .\freebsd-4.11--12.3R7.7.img -cdrom .\jinstall64-12.3R7.7-export-olive.iso

Which other output are your interested in?

Yes, I've checked both FreeBSD and qemu docs, and surprinsingly the explanation is to add more HDD, be it physical or virtual.

Cheers,

... so apparantly in the FreeBSD image, /dev/ad0sf, which is mounted at /var is not large enough: 1.8G according to df -h.

I've set PKG_TMPDIR manually to /var, doesn't help.

I tested it in a Windows 8 and a Linux environment and the error message is exactly the same.

Resizing the partition in FreeBSD is not possible since gpart is missing.

Resizing in Gparted is not possible because Gparted does not support ufs.

I'd be glad for suggestions how to proceed.

Thanks.

So apparantly the conclusion is that there is no solution to this issue.
