Post subject:  GNS3 1.0beta1: Uncaught Exception
Hi Everyone,

downloaded the beta1 this week and discovered a problem/bug.

Everytime when I select Edit->Preference I get the following message:

Could not get the VM list from the server: uncaught execption <class 'pywintypes.com_error'>:(-2147352567), 'Exception occurred.', ..........


I've attached a picture showing the exception. This occurs whenever I select Edit->Preference. When I click OK everything works as normal.

This is occuring on a laptop with Windows 7 x64 and the Windows all-in package of the Beta release.

Hi,

This is most likely because VirtualBox is missing. This will be fixed in the next release.

I am still seeing this same error on Beta3. Running on window 7 x64. I installed with the Windows all-in package of the Beta3 release.

this is the exact same error jasfree report in his post on Aug 02, 2014.

Hi,

Can you try the following:

Uninstall VirtualBox.
Reinstall the 4.3.12 version: http://download.virtualbox.org/virtualb ... 33-Win.exe

Let me know if this fixes the problem.

I have encountered the exact same problem like jasfree and magicbydave did, by uninstalling VirtualBox 4.3.16 and reinstalling the 4.3.12 version didn't help.

Wondering has anyone found a solution for this problem??

Hi guys,

Luckily I have found the cause of this problem and solved it. If you also have Comodo Internet Security installed on your pc like I did, it might be the cause of this error.

Accidently I saw a message on the Comodo console windows saying that it had blocked some intrusive attemps, by reading the report I found the GNS3 access to virtualbox were seen as malicious and hence were blocked by comodo. By disabling sandbox function on Comodo i was able to finally get virtualbox working on GNS3.

As for Comodo, this was not the first time it caused me problem(last time was with VMWARE), I decided to let it go and look for another alternative.
