hi.

i'm trying to connect my pc to a gns3 topology. i follow the steps described in this gns3 tutorial http://www.gns3.net/gns3-connecting-real-networks/

a paragraph from this tut reads like this "For Windows users, click on the box directly beneath Generic Ethernet NIO, and choose the network adapter you wish to use. For Linux users, click on the drop-down box to choose your network adapter (either your real adapter or a loopback adapter). Click the Add button and OK. You will need to configure the IP settings for your computer’s adapter, and then use the Add a link toolbar button to create your connection.''

i, a windows user, added real ethernet adapter and clicked OK. but where can i configure IP settings for my computer adapter? am I supposed to disconnect from my home router and configure static IP address?

what i tried - checked what is my PC' ip address (connected to home LAN with dhcp enabled) and then configured router's interface with an IP addr that falls into my home LAN subnet. pinged router's interface from my windows' command line, request timed out. now i ran out of ideas :D help plz

Hi,

The best would be to create a Windows Loopback interface (you can use an utility called Loopback Manager shipped with GNS3). Then you can bridge your loopback with your Ethernet interface. You might want to check out this link -> topic20.html
