Post subject:  unable to create generic ethernet NIO

Hi,

I am running GNS3 1.0beta2 on Windows 7 Pro x64. I added the MS loopback interface in order to connect my PC to the virual environment. I pick this adapter in the settings of the cloud object, but when i try to connect the cloud with any device in my topology i get the following message:

Server error [-3200] from 127.0.0.1:8000: R1: unable to create generic ethernet NIO

So far i have tried:
- run GNS3 as administrator
- assign static IP to the adapter
- disable virtualbox driver and IPv6 under NIC properties
all to no avail.

I googled and searched the forum, couldn't find anything that would resolve it.

Any input would be greatly appreaciated!

I asked the same question just before you did, I haven't tried a reboot yet but looks like a bug somewhere if two of us seeing the same problem.

even though i managed to create the Layer 1 connection now i am still unable to squeeze any sort of traffic through, so its not entirely blue skies and sunshine just yet...

keep us posted on your progress, i will do the same!

The GNS3 twitter account asked for a link to my question and said they would have someone look at it so if you keep an eye on mine (just before yours) then I might get an answer.

news flash: if i connect the cloud object to a virtualbox VM i can ping, but none of the routers are willing to do the same.

so what exactly are you trying to do? you have two MS loopback NIC in windows and want to connect them to two different routers in GNS3? Or two different interfaces on the same router?

I've got a VM that has two interfaces on two different networks on the host, I've tied each network to interfaces on the cloud, the first connects fine, the second refused with the error
