Post subject:  GNS3 with VMWare integration

I am doing a very simple setup with one VM on Player running to a router in GNS3, I am connecting the router the VMNet1 port, I can ping the gateway and the router interface from the VM, and I can ping the gateway from the router but I can not ping the VM, any thoughts?

Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Check the host firewall for the virtual machine guest operating system. Does it allow ICMP?

If the guest OS is a recent version of Windows (and using the default 'Windows Firewall with Advanced Security'), run the following from an elevated command shell:

Is the rule enabled?
Code:
netsh advfirewall firewall show rule name="File and Printer Sharing (Echo Request - ICMPv4-In)"

If not, enable it.
Code:
netsh advfirewall firewall set rule name="File and Printer Sharing (Echo Request - ICMPv4-In)" new enable=yes

Haha, such a simple solution that I didn't even think of, to close to the problem I guess, XP firewall was blocking ping, thanks so much.
