Post subject:  More interfaces for Qemu image

Hi,

1. is it possible to implement option to choose the number of Ethernet ports available for Qemu host (JunOS)?
Currently I play with Linux Multilayer switch (LISA Project) ant it would be nice to have more then 6 ports for Linux Switch. But 6 interfaces is enough for Microcore host.
I will release How to and Qemu image with LISA soon.

2. Could we have option to choose more then one JunOS base image for project (just like with IOS or Qemu host)?
I consider this as useful if I want to test different JunOS in one project. I it possible to have option to choose default olive base image?

Thanks,

It would be really handy to have feature listed in point 1.

Thanks

Hi,

I've made the requested changes (they already were in the TODO list) and I plan to release a minor version of GNS3 on Sunday evening.

There are also 2 new features that should be helpful:

[*] Autosave. By default the topology is saved every 60 seconds after the first save.
[*] Default base config for IOS, this allows to have IOSs automatically configured. By default the commands from baseconfig.txt are loaded in IOS nvrams.

baseconfig.txt:

Code:
hostname %h
no ip domain lookup
line con 0
exec-timeout 0 0
logging synchronous

Some fixes have been made for ATM switches and ATM bridges.

If you could test and double check everything, that's would be very nice.

Thanks,

PS: the dev version is downlodable from code.gns3.net

Did you run the latest qemuwrapper? It is located on the same repository http://code.gns3.net/gns3-devel/file/8e ... emuwrapper

It must be you, I installed ubuntu in Virtual Box, downloaded the dev version from code.gns3.net and I had no error message.

Double check everything, make sure you have the correct path to qemuwrapper.

Hi,
Yes something funny is going on my system...i re downloaded the gns dev version and this time i was able to increase the number of nics to 10 but when i start the JUNOS router i get no qemu window and i cannot access console i.e. nothing happens when i click console. Than i download the latest version of qemuwrapper and change the path in qemu to latest qemuwrapper and when i click test i get error message qemuwrapper failed to start. When i downloaded qemuwrapper i changed it to be executable by chmod +x.

I will recheck everything not sure whats going on.....

Thanks...

Hi,
patched qemu 0.11.0 - only 8 NICs are supported. More than 8 NICs - qemu fails to start with "qemu: Too many NICs" message.

I will try patch qemu 0.12.5 and and see if there is option to have more then 8 NICs. Anyway user option should be limited by max. NICs supported by Qemu or warning message should be displayed if user choose non-supported number of NICs.

I used qemuwrapper 0.3.3 (available in GNS3 0.7.3 ) for test.

Cheers,

Hi,

There is one line to change in net.h => :#define MAX_NICS 8

I changed the number to 16 and after that I can boot microcore linux with 10 interfaces but apparently this is the maximum for microcore?!. I haven't tested with other Qemu-based images like JunOS.
