Hi,

for all of you who want to play with Openvswitch in GNS3, here is Openvswitch 1.2.2 installed on Microcore 4.0 Linux as Qemu image.

http://brezular.com/2013/09/17/linux-core-qemu-and-virtualbox-appliances-download/

Here are the installation steps.

Hi,
I've added Quagga 0.99.20 to existing Microcore 4.0 image with installed Openvswitch 1.2.2 extension. Combination of those two open-source projects brings us an opportunity to have L3 switch with routing capabilities.

Quagga is configured for all the free IPv4 and IPv6 routing daemons such as ripd, ripngd, ospfd, ospf6d, isisd, bgpd. As Quagga was built with vtysh support, you can configure router form single environment, invoking /usr/local/bin/vtysh command.

To save content of daemon's configuration files you have to call script /usr/bin/filetool.sh -b before shutdown of Microcore. Of course, don't forget to save running-config to startup-config during router's configuration.

The image I'm sharing is fully operational and you can concentrate only on Openvswitch and Quagga configuration without additional Microcore configuration.

I'm planning to install keepalived for vrrp support and create lab - Cisco Hierarchical Network Design lab, using this image. When I finish I will post it on my blog.
