I managed to get IOU talking to dynamips routers in GNS3. Below I've configured everything on Ubuntu 12.4. The pic shows a GNS3 1700 series router running the show cdp neighbor command. As you can see from the output, it's able to see the IOU router. It seems to work well, but I haven't testing things enough determine how robust it is. I've only tested simple things like pings. I'll check it out as I have time, and report back at some later date.

Hey guys

New this forum. I'm curious to know from your attachment how can one modify the original IOU Rack v3 topology to add more Routers, Switches and links between devices?

Thanks

EDIT: just found out about NETMAP for links but not sure about adding more devices.

I wouldn't get any of the IOU files from the flyxj image. At the very least the L2 image is severely flawed, it has a busted spanning-tree and ARP food issue that limits its usefullness, this could perhaps be related to the environment in which it is run though. However, there are other L2 IOU versions that are available on the net and which work very well. One such image was just compiled in January 24th of this year. Search for the L2 IOU team track version. It's based on 15.1 of the IOS though. For L3 there is a ADVENTERPRISEK9-M-15.2.3 image floating around as well.

IOU is too flooded on linux. the only layer 2 image is working on sparc solaris. I doubt that gns3 1.x will manage to integrate L2 properly using iou...

check this list to verify what is supported on Linux and what on solaris:

For those who want to create their your own labs with IOU, I wrote runiou, a tiny bash script for manage the lab: https://bitbucket.org/mangelo/runiou With runiou you can define the devices and connections, start and stop the devices, capture traffic, export the configurations and access to the consoles through GNU Screen. Thanks.
